HEALTH CARE
Our Perspective
Every Coloradan deserves access to quality, affordable health care. We must implement strategies in Colorado that will improve health care delivery and contain costs. We must also pursue policies that will maximize wellness and preventative care for all Coloradans.
Our Work
The Colorado Forum has a long history of discussing different perspectives and working with diverse stakeholders on health care issues. The Forum is currently engaging with the Governor’s administration on this topic. Previously, the Forum supported the establishment of a state-based insurance exchange - Connect for Health Colorado - rather than rely on the federal government to manage healthcare reform in our State. We also support the multi-faceted efforts underway to make Colorado the healthiest state in the country. The Forum was a vocal advocate for the hospital-based provider fee to allow the healthcare needs of our most disadvantaged citizens to be financed in a more robust way and we applauded the expansion of Medicaid eligibility in Colorado. The Forum is particularly focused on bringing private and public resources to bear for the health needs of our children and we played an active role in the original implementation of the Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) in the State. In recognition of the severity with which the opioid crisis has impacted Colorado communities, the Forum is working with the Governor’s office, the state legislature, and the larger community to help identify meaningful ways to mitigate this problem.
