Ted is a proud fourth-generation resident of Southwest Colorado, with deep roots in Durango, where he grew up working on his family's cattle ranch. His great-grandfather, originally a stagecoach driver on the renowned "Million Dollar Highway" between Ouray and Silverton, eventually settled in Durango as a rancher.

After graduating from Durango High School, Ted pursued academics at Stanford University, earning degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Product Design. Fueled by a strong desire to contribute to his community, Ted returned to his hometown to establish a remarkable career spanning over 30 years as a mechanical and infrastructure engineer. His extensive experience includes designing and executing large-scale projects within the water, mining, and oil and gas industries, most recently as the Director of Technology for United Pipeline Systems, a global leader in energy infrastructure.

Currently, Ted holds the position of Board President at the La Plata Electric Association, where he is dedicated to implementing a just energy transition for the cooperative's member-owners. He is also the founding executive director of the Co-op Innovation Network, a nonprofit organization that offers educational and networking resources to visionary change-makers in rural communities across the nation.

Ted's commitment to public service is evident through his involvement on various boards, including the local broadband development company, Fast Track Communications, and the La Plata Open Space Conservancy, focusing on agriculture and open space conservation. His dedication to fostering innovation in Colorado is further highlighted by his role with the Office of Economic Development Advanced Industry Grants Program, where he evaluates early-stage companies in Energy and Natural Resources and Advanced Manufacturing sectors.

Ted is deeply committed to the betterment of the entire state and his family shares his passion for making a positive impact in Colorado. His wife, Moira, serves as the executive director of the Durango Mesa Park Foundation, which is spearheading a transformative cultural project for Southwest Colorado. Their daughter, Cecilia, is pursuing a career in Environmental Science, contributing to the family's legacy of involvement in impactful initiatives.

In their leisure time, Ted and his family enjoy exploring the vast and diverse natural landscapes surrounding Durango, immersing themselves in the beauty of their beloved region.
