Ben Valore-Caplan
Co-President - Syntrinsic
Throughout his career, Ben has built bridges between seemingly disparate groups. Since 2000, he has connected the nonprofit and finance sectors as an investment advisor and strategic partner to foundations, endowments, nonprofit organizations, and the people affiliated with them. After serving as Senior Vice President of Investments at UBS where he led the BVC Institutional Consulting Group, Ben launched Syntrinsic Investment Counsel in 2008 to prioritize serving the needs of this distinctive and impactful clientele. In 2023, Syntrinsic joined IMA Financial Group to gain efficiency and deepen impact across the country.
Ben’s first career was as an educator and nonprofit founder and executive director. Chief among his efforts, Ben created and directed Denver Summerbridge, an academically rigorous program empowering economically disadvantaged young people to succeed in college and beyond while training talented high school and college students to become effective educators and community leaders. The program has served as a model and catalyst for several other educational opportunity programs, and it continues to thrive 30 years later as Breakthrough Kent Denver.
Ben was appointed by then-Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper as an independent trustee for Colorado’s $50+ billion Public Employee’s Retirement Association (PERA). He served on the PERA Investment Committee, was elected as Vice Chair of PERA’s Board of Trustees, then served as a member of the State of Colorado’s Legislative Pension Review Subcommittee. Ben also served for several years on the Advisory Committee to the City of Denver. Ben chairs the Board of Colorado Zoological Trust, which is the supporting foundation to the Denver Zoo. He serves on the board of Challenge Foundation, and as a founding CEO of Colorado Inclusive Economy. He was selected as the Conscious Business Leader of 2019 by Conscious Company.
Ben earned his Bachelor of Arts from Brown University and his MBA from the Daniels School of Business at the University of Denver.
