Sidny K. Zink, CPA, is owner emerita of FredrickZink & Associates, PC, a full service public accounting firm in Durango. She led the firm’s audit practice, having primary responsibility for the design and maintenance of the quality control system over the firm’s audit and accounting practice.
A graduate of the University of Nebraska, Sid has been a practicing CPA since 1978. Prior to joining FredrickZink & Associates, PC in 1991, she was a senior audit manager in the Denver office of Grant Thornton, a national public accounting firm. She has a broad industry background with a strong emphasis on the not-for-profit sector as well as the construction and contracting industry.
Sidny was the 2010-2011 chair of the 8,800-member Colorado Society of CPAs. Active in the CPA profession throughout her career, she served on the Society’s Board and chaired committees over many years. She is also a member of the American Institute of CPAs, a 2011-2013 Member of Council representing Colorado, and currently one of thirty-six members of the AICPA Joint Trial Board.
Outside of her professional calling, Sidny was elected to the Durango City Council in 2003 and served as Mayor in 2006 and 2007. She is a member of La Plata Forum, La Plata County Long-term Finance Committee, and La Plata County Republican Central Committee. Sidny was appointed by the Governor to the Colorado Transportation Commission in August 2013.
She is a member of the Board of Directors of First National Bank of Durango and FastTrack Communications, Inc., and has served on nonprofit boards and committees including The Homes Fund, the Home Builders Association of Southwest Colorado, United Way of Southwest Colorado, and Earlybird Toastmasters.
Sidny was named Durango's 2014 Citizen of the Year, as well as having received other awards as a business and community leader.
